The Richland Goblin - "Always close your garage door before dark" Retelling

Yeah I know it sounds cliché, the title that is with all the warnings. Yes I know it is obvious with all the unsavory people that come out at night wanting to most likely steal my stuff. They might want to kill me at the worse end but that isn’t the reason why I am saying to make sure the door is closed.

Also, you maybe thinking that I should be talking about all doors but, you would be mistaken I am only talking about the garage door. You know that ones that go up so you can bring in your car. I know I’ve experimented with other doors front doors, back doors, sliding doors, warehouse doors, and hell I even took off the door entirely. It laughed at me for that one, but none of those it entered through not through any windows only the garage door.

I’m getting ahead of myself here. What am I talking about? Well, a few months, well actually a year ago now I moved into a new house in Washington, Richland specifically. I had moved into a new hosing area that has been recently built a lot of fields around. During the day it was nice and night was amazing it was so dark I could almost see the stars. For about a month it was like this peaceful and I loved it. About a month in to living there I saw something moving around in a vineyard that was behind my house. I just figured it was a fox or a coyote.

I had been told that they like to wander around the area at night so, I didn’t think much about it just a coyote. That was for a month sometimes I would see it clearer but it was too brief for me to make it out. That is when the disappearances started. It started at just some pets at first someone’s small dog got out chasing something and got taken by the coyotes it’s whatever. Then a kid went missing it was one of my neighbor’s kids it was a little boy named Mathew I think he was around 4 at the time. The family had security cameras so obviously watch the footage to see where he went. It was 10pm at the time the kid was watching cartoons in the living room. Mom was out and dad was passed out drunk on the couch. Turns out that he was drinking because he found out that his wife was cheating which is where she was but that is besides the point. Kid was unattended, then at some point between shows a high pitched sound could be heard like throwing a pebble at a window, because turns out that is what actually happened. The kid turned and appeared to be watching something out the window for a little bit there are video cameras outside but it was in the perfect spot where it is close enough for the kid to see but not the cameras. That creepy bastard.

Anyways after like a minute the kid goes to the backdoor which was locked but he managed to unlock it and opened the door and went outside to the backyard and looked out at the field for another minute or so before following something that ran off it was visible on camera for a second and we saw what looked like a human foot on camera ,but we couldn’t be sure. I say we because after the kid ran out of his family’s camera’s range they appeared next on the next house’s camera’s and ran across their yard since none of us have fences. The kid kept chasing the thing till it got to my house and all that could be found was the kid’s blood; in my backyard. So, this is why I know about this because I was a suspect in the kid’s disappearance but the police couldn’t find anything that connected me to it. This same thing happened 3 more times I was suspected each time but each time the only thing that could be found was the kid’s blood. I did put of video cameras after this of course I put them up after the first disappearance, but the bastard always avoided them. After the third kid went missing it had calmed down for about a month. The kids were eventually found almost 3 miles away their bodies drained of blood and mangled in the trees of some poor farmer’s orchard investigation followed and nothing. Once they were found, good god, I swear the gates of hell opened. I had been living there for 5 months at this point and things only got worse. Like I said before gates of hell opened. For a month, a fucking month 2 kids went missing a week. They didn’t go out side no they were asleep in bed. The only thing they had in common was they were in my neighborhood and their windows were open. It took them through their fucking windows.

They were found later in the same spot as the last 3 the oldest this time was 13 it took a teenager and not even a small one this kid could have been a linebacker, hell I asked the parents he was a linebacker. No evidence to convict anyone again. God the first 6 months of me living here had been horrible. I wanted to move or live with someone else, but I couldn’t I didn’t have enough money. So, I had to stay and endure it. The next two months things calmed down a lot the only thing that was found was new claw marks on my door and the doors of the victims. They were in the shape of tally marks on the victims counting them. The last victim’s door had 13 written in tally marks. Mine was a smiling face.

It wasn’t on camera for any of this it would either tear out or move the cameras away from the door so all we could see was a hand a gray skeletal hand. Followed by occasional pet disappearances but, those were actual coyotes. There was one braking and wondering case nothing was taken but the garage door was wedged open with a price of wood. Nothing on camera again.

This is where I wanted to write this story this is what happened to push me over the edge of keeping this quiet. It got in. I knew it could but, it waited to I was too tired to remember to close the garage door one night. Nothing was taken and my camera’s weren’t tampered with but, all that could be seen was a small dark silhouette dark from outside to underneath my car. It couldn’t be found after that. It couldn’t be found for 2 months till January 3rd. When I heard tapping from the door going into my garage.

I go to the door with my gun I had a shotgun loaded with slugs. I ask who is there. Nothing. Silence for what felt like hours then pounding so hard it actually damaged my door frame. I swing the door open and there it was standing underneath my open garage door snow blowing in from outside. It was a large figure it was nearly 7 feet tall and skeletal like it had nothing but bones. Its hands were long and thin each finger on its hand had the sharpest claws I had ever seen. Its feet were human like but it only stood on its toes like a cat (digigrade I had to look it up). It’s skin was a pale gray and it had a tail that was like a rat’s tail. Its head was similar to a human it was like a mix between a wolf and a human. It’s ear we’re where human ear we’re supposed to be but their were long and pointed like elf’s ears. Its eyes were solid black and it’s mouth. Good god that is what haunts me to this day. It was smiling wide it had all its teeth showing they glistened white. Whiter than I have ever seen and they were like a dog’s teeth. I can’t I see it.

Then. Oh god then it spoke it had a deep horse and raspy voice it said “Thank you for letting me in David I’ll be back. Your blood will be delicious” it spoke slowly with breaks to take deep breaths between each word like speaking was exhausting to it. Then it left it ran on all four legs like a dog it was fast. Of course I tried to shoot at it but, it was too fast and I couldn’t steady my hands to get a clean shot. I’ve seen it again several times it refuses to enter when I’m there and refuses to enter through any door or window but my garage door. I don’t dive my car anymore and I never open that door I take the bus and lock all the doors and windows of my house when I can. I cover all the windows but, every night when I sleep I can hear pebbles being tossed at my window and it’s horrible high shrill laugh. And I can see it staring at me if I’m in the garage at night I can see its smile.

It has been a year to the day that I moved in and I can’t take it anymore I hear it knocking on my garage door I’m gonna open it. Thank you.

The Legend of Hatchet Manor

  The Legend of Hatchet Manor

Hatchet manor is a large manor located on the east coast of the united states. It was built in the 1800s and was in the hatchet family since it was built. In 1879 Harriet hatchet married into the family. Harriet was a tall thin woman with jet black hair and pale skin. Harriet gained ownership after her husband, Hyrum Hatchet, was found dead in the forest behind the Manor with an ax wound found in the middle of his head, but the ax that killed him was never found. After his death, Harriet turned the manor into a boarding home, but people who stayed at the boarding home were either went missing and were never found again, found buried in the graveyard that was between the woods and the manor, or were found dead in the woods.

Harriet didn’t remarry till two years later which is when she married William Van Helsing. While she was married fewer people went missing but none that went missing were ever found again. After Harriet and William were married for two years, they had a son named Victor van Helsing. Victor looked like his mother with black hair and pale skin, he was also recorded to be a kind and considerate boy. A year after victor was born William was found dead in the woods with an ax wound in the head just like Hyrum.

During the two years that Harriet wasn’t married afterward more people went missing and were found with limbs and flesh were missing from the bodies that were found.

Two years after William died Harriet remarried a man named Jordan Madame. She was married to Jordan for nine years and was a great man. People would go missing more as Victor got older and were found with little two no flesh on the body and with the limbs removed. After nine years victor went missing one night and wasn’t found again and Jordan was found in the woods with the same wound as William and Hyrum. After some time, people keep going missing and people were found in the same condition as before.

Then after three years on Halloween night at 11:30pm, a loud blood-curdling scream was heard from the manor. When the police got to the manor at 12:15 am Harriet was found to have hung herself in the attic of the manor. While the police were investigating the manor, they found Harriet’s journal in her room where she wrote about who was at the manor where the bodies were and what she did, but they couldn’t find the ax she used to kill her victims or her son. They also found a big heavy oak, steel, and stone door in the basement which was found to be unopenable by any means when they looked into a small window on the ground that looks into they found human limbs in the basement but they could never get in and could never find the key to the door.

Since this has happened every Halloween night you can see figures moving throughout the manor, a man walking into the woods with a smile on his face, and a woman hanging in the attic window. At 11:30 pm you can hear the high pitch blood-curdling scream coming from the basement, and if you are anywhere on the property at midnight you will never be seen again and if you are you will be found in the woods behind the manor with your head split open by an ax. The bodies found in the graveyard have been moved to another graveyard and no one has stayed in the house since Harriet died and that’s the way it will stay that way for a long time. Trust me it’s better that way.

A mother's mourning

 A Mother’s Mourning

I woke up with a start as my daughter Lisa shuffled around the bed. Her long, wavy honey hair curled around her small frame and her beautiful beige arms embraced me as she found a comfortable position. She shook slightly as the cold beds let no room for warmth. I hugged her back to give her body heat. I looked up at the ceiling, a plain thatched roof it was. Our home may not be as grand as Lord Wenry Hotton's castles or as clean as the church in our manor, but it was certainly cozy as we grew up with it and the memories pertain to us only. I murmured silent prayers grateful towards God for all of His glory and graciousness. With a kind smile I fell back asleep embracing my daughter.

The small window to the right of our beds allowed the morning sun to peek through. I had awoken first and had been setting up breakfast in the common room. The meal had been made up of corn, lettuce and some bread. While I gently placed the bowls and utensils we shared, my mind wandered off to my husband. He had been a wonderful man-- perhaps his appearance was common with a set of brown eyes and hair, but there had been little to complain about when he had been with us. He never beat me and refrained from speaking crudely, unlike the bruises and vulgarity shown by the other peasants living in Lord Wenry's town. If he were not a peasant you would have thought he was a vassal! My parents had set up our marriage and through the years of living together we learned to love each other. We had Louis, our oldest with a fiery temper and cocky eye; Giovanni, our middle son who unfortunately passed away little after he was born; and finally, our precious gem that is now around six years old, Lisa. I always called my husband sweet names out of respect; although I did not ever ask him about it, he never questioned me either. We lived comfortably that way.

My train of thought was interrupted by an angelic and childish voice with two small arms around my thigh and the harsh arrogance of a "What am I eating?", contrasting my children sharply. Sighing, I picked Lisa up and carried her whole responding to Louis's question politely, "Son, we are eating the usual." He grinned as he sat down on the wooden chair and waited, for some reason excited. I exclaimed, "What a miracle it is to see you so glad! What's wrong?" Lisa giggled at this and I sat her down. With his mouth full of lettuce, he smirked. "Mother, it's time-- I'm escaping this place. I'll find a better home for all of us." I gasped and sternly frowned. "Louis, where will you even go? You can die out there. I know I can't stop you but-- but, we're living so happily this way. Lisa scares the crows away from the gardens, I weave your clothing and cultivate crops, and you help out in labor all the time! I know it's been hard with your father not around anymore, but I've done my best to create a happy environment for you two to live in."

He scoffed at this, "Mother, is this really happiness? To work for someone as unruly as Lord Wenry Hotton, a man who has never had to work a single day in his life? Look, we are near the port of Marseilles. I know a friend here who was able to get in contact with one of Lord Wenry's acquaintances during his stay here. In reality, everybody dislikes him! My friend was told to not tell anyone of this, but the man was only here in order to scout people to join his guild. As long as we can leave without being caught, life will be easy and we could maybe even scale up in status by becoming merchants!" I shook my head in disapproval. "Louis, you know that it would be difficult for us to go. It's safer to be here than going with some random man that you haven't even met--" He interrupted me yet again. "Mother, I will go first. When I establish good wealth I will come back for you." My cheeks flushed in fury and I swung my hands down, slamming the table and scaring Lisa who was shaking in terror throughout all of this. I composed myself after seeing Lisa, thinking on what God would think if I let myself be overcome by anger and sighed. "What if it doesn't work?" Louis let out a pitiful smile. "I'll come back and let myself be beaten." This reminded me of what could possibly happen if someone noticed that he was gone and told Lord Wenry about it-- we would be punished, too! As if he knew my thoughts of realization, Louis reassured me, "Lord Wenry won't notice. He's going out on a trip to meet up with the king while his wife stays behind. According to some of the servants, he'll be gone for months because apparently he's in debt and will pay it back through military service." I let out a breath that I didn't know I'd been holding back. Pausing for a good while and thinking of what could happen, I finally answered-- "Alright. I guess it'll be easier to just maintain two people. Not having to clean an extra person's rough wool and linen underwear and clothes will help relieve a load…" He smiled stood up to hug me. I wept as I looked up and pet his hair. He looked just like his father-- that flame in his heart only made him all the more admirable. "He would be so proud of you." At last we stopped the embrace and I gently caressed his face. "Louis…Please, stay safe." That was my last plead as he grinned and Lisa jumped at us both, crying out a tiny "I'll miss you, big brother! Take care!" That very day we packed a small bag of his clothes, including long stockings and two gray and brown tunics, an amount of crops from our garden so nobody would be suspicious if we had taken them from the fields, and at last Lisa handed him a handful of daisies. He knelt down on one knee and kissed her on the forehead as a thank you. He had waited until unholy hours and we silently whispered and waved our goodbyes when he left. We knew that he would do wonders.

A month had passed and there was never a day that I had not prayed for the safety and health of my child. Lisa and I started living a secluded lifestyle yet went to church often enough to not cause any gossip. Thankfully, nobody seemed to regard Louis's absence-- perhaps it was due to how prideful he was towards those who didn't know him very well, but whether it was due to people's distaste towards him or not didn't matter. While picking crops from the fields one day, I heard men boisterously talk to one another. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but then I heard one of them mention Marseilles. I made sure Lisa was not paying attention to me or them and saw her being distracted by a white butterfly. Not wanting to cause a scene, I simply listened closely to them and gasped when I heard the terrible news that occured.

"Did you hear what that old geezer said Michael?" "Are you talking about that disgusting spread of death in Marseilles? Of course I heard of it, you idiot. It's been the daily talk these past three days!" "Do you know the symptoms of it?" There was a pause, showing that Michael had no idea. "Well, I'll tell you about them then...The folks there have been getting these nasty swollen balls all over their bodies. As big as a chicken egg, they say! Their skin turns ghastly pale and there are blotches of black all over them. Many would call them dead if it were not for their groans of pain and vomiting. Coughin' and bleedin' with a fever as high as Hell's entrance. Within days those who get sick die without the mercy of a peaceful doom. They call it the Black Death." "What?! Why?!" "Well young Michael...Some say it's the fault of those bloody cursed Jews. I remember overhearing from one of Lord Wenry's conversations with a man from Switzerland that the Jews had poisoned wells there. Who says it can't happen here? Even with that though, I say it's God's wrath. All we can do is beg, pray, and kneel at His feet." "Jonathan, what will we do if it comes to us?" "We're likely as good as dead. I'd kill myself if I got it. I couldn't bare the Black Death spreadin' to my family. I have three daughters and four sons, you know? They all have bright futures ahead of them. I wouldn't let anything happen to them." "I see…Thank you for informing me about all of this, John." He chuckled bitterly, "Never a problem to teach the young ones before it's too late."

My eyes widened in shock and I dropped the basket of crops unto the fertile soil. Tears threatened to drop as I choked on a clump of saliva. The men realized this and one yelled at the other for talking about such horrid matters in front of a woman. The other man, Jonathan, asked if I was alright and I nodded as I struggled to breathe. "Woman, breathe! Sweet Lord, don't make my information be the cause of a mother's heart attack!" After a few moments of desperation, I managed to compose myself and Lisa came up to me with a "Mommy?" I responded to her with a forced smile, "Mommy's alright honey. Mommy's alright…" That night I did not rest. I had turned off every candle and Lisa fell asleep with ease. She cuddled and stayed close to me, but that brought me no comfort. Even after I prayed for Louis I could not shake away the fear of losing him too. Weary thoughts plagued my mind. 'God, I have lost one of my children and even my husband already. There is no way you could take away Louis as well. He is too young to go to Heaven. Please, my Lord, cover him with your holy light and secure him with your blessings.' Alas, I fell into a slumber.

I met my husband again. He had encouraged me to live on and do my best no matter what happened. I wanted to speak yet I could not. He spoke the word of God to me and wore a cross upon his chest proudly. He gave me sweet kisses-- on my forehead, then on my chin, then on my left cheek and on my right, and at last on a tender and faint one on the mouth. However, this turned sour as I felt the metallic taste of blood in my mouth and I opened my eyes to see him sickly and ill. I wept and could not do anything as he was taken away into a void. Such a terrible smell-- not even the smell of excrement, manure and sweat could compare. The scent was suffocating. I couldn't breathe. I can't breathe. It's horrible. Wake up, Marie. Wake up. I heard groans escape me—

"Mommy! Mommy, wake up!" Lisa wept and she woke me up. I was shaking and so was she. However, she had a grin upon her, which I could faintly see thanks to the gleam of moonlight peeking through the window. After regaining from a dizzy consciousness, I mumbled, "Lisa? What are you doing up so late? Go back to sleep." The scent still lingered. Yet she persisted in waking me up. "Mommy, Louis is back!" At this I opened my eyes rapidly and jumped up from the bed-- "What did you say?!" "Mommy, Louis is back! He's back! He probably hasn't taken a shower in a long time so he smells really bad, but he's back! He woke me up from the window and said he wanted to see you and that he's waiting outside. Come on mommy, let's go!" Happiness overcame me as my memory of the nightmare faded away with this knowledge. I grabbed Lisa's hand and we ran towards the door and opened it excitedly. I whispered-shouted, "Louis?! Louis, where are you?" Lisa then tugged at my sleeve and pointed to the right, where a faint silhouette could be made out from the darkness of the night. He was leaning on the dirty stone walls of the house and was dimly illuminated by the beautiful moonlight. Then his face turned to us and I could only see misery, grief, and despair upon it. The vivid descriptions had come to life. I ran to him as he groaned in pain and weakly whispered, "Mother…Lisa…" He coughed loudly, blood spilling to the floor and bits of it reaching me. His vulnerability made me take a step back and I then yelled at Lisa to do so as well. I dropped to the floor, not knowing what was a safe distance to be from him. "I'm...sorry…" A tear grazed dropped as I knew of what had happened. I did not force him to speak as his final moments approached. Despite knowing he was dying, he attempted a smile and grabbed rotten daisies from his pocket. He did his best in speaking yet took his time. I reassured him as sobs left me, "Louis...it's alright...It's going to be alright…I love you, Louis...We missed you…" Afraid of what was happening, Lisa also began crying. "Louis...Louis, I love you a lot too. Mommy and I missed you so much…" My son closed his eyes. Through his last breaths he whispered, "I love you, mom, Lisa...I love…" Louis coughed violently and could not take it anymore. He passed on to the other side.

Skinwalker

Skinwalker

It was late at night and Daniel just finished watching hours of scary stories, ranging from home invasions to satanic activity. His favorite stories though were about Skinwalkers, he didn’t know why he enjoyed them so much he just liked it. HE was getting ready for bed when he looked out his bedroom window and saw two red eyes starring at him. They starred at each other then it walked into the light, it looked like a coyote but, it was off, the ears were in the wrong place on its head, it was too big, and its face was flat. He knows what a coyote looks like because he has seen some walking around his small town. After, a few minutes of watching each other the coyote turned and ran off, but it ran unnaturally fast for a coyote. Daniel closed and locked all the windows in his room and closed all the curtains in his room. Once they were all closed he felt a wave of dread come off him that he hadn’t noticed he had.

The next day was a Saturday and he didn’t tell his grandparents what he had seen the night before. He ate his breakfast and went out with his friends to their favorite spot in the desert. They messed around there all day and it started to get around 9 pm and they started to walk home because the spot wasn’t far from where they all lived. As they were walking home, they all felt a wave of dread come over them. They looked around and just saw empty desert, then they smelt something that smelled like rotting flesh. They looked for the smell till they got to a rock not far from them, as they started to look at the rock, they noticed on top they saw a coyote the size of a wolf, when Daniel saw it he realized it was the same one as the night before. Not too long after they saw the coyote it bared its teeth and snarled at them, as it did, they were paralyzed with fear. Then the coyote jumped off the rock then Daniel instinctively started running as fast as their legs could carry them. They ran till they got to the door of a 24-hour convenience store and got inside and the door behind them closed before the coyote got there. After they got in, they waited a little bit to catch their breath. As they waited they heard bones breaking outside the door, they look out the door and they see the coyote standing on it’s hind legs like a human and morph into a tall man with a coyote skin tied around his neck with its front paws.

They stood there in awe as they saw the man starting to reach to open the door, as they saw this, they started to hold the door closed. After a while of holding the door shut the man walked a way from the convenience store and walked back into the desert. After, waiting a while they all ran back to there homes and had uneventful the next day.

Then after Daniel’s dad took him home on Sunday to California. Daniel had an uneventful at school, then after he got home and finished his homework at about 6 pm he decided to go on a walk. As he walked, he saw the man, so he turned and ran away in the opposite direction but, the man was faster and caught Daniel and ran off with him. Then he was reported missing and wasn’t found till 10 days later when a bloody body was found in a store parking lot, when a blood test was done on the body, they found out that it was Daniel, who was skinned alive. Later that day at Daniel’s father’s house, Daniel’s father heard a knock at the door. So, he opened it and Daniel was at the door so he let him in. Once, he let Daniel in the phone rang, So, he answered it and was told that his son was found skinned alive in a parking lot. After he heard that he looked at his son who was staring at him with red eyes and a smile that went from ear to ear.

The Door in the Basement BY:Ben

The Door in the Basement
I should have known it was a bad idea to open the door that was in my family's basement, but that didn't stop me. I don't know how it didn't, i hated it down there. It was so dark and always had a putrid smell, my family used it for storage and my brother threw parties down there when my parents weren't home. There wasn't many windows or lights, but i remember there being a large bookshelf down there. I didn't know why it was there, because the house originally belonged to my grandparents i guessed they put it down there. The reason being there was never books on it and i was there since i was little. My parents tried to move it once because they needed more space down there, even though it was very big, but, my grandparents never let them. SO, even with all this you might be thinking, "How stupid were you that you opened the door?".
I don't have an answer. When I opened the I was with my friends down there and we got bored and they moved the bookshelf, i was scared because we shouldn't have even been down there let alone moving the thing my parents wern't allowed to move. After, a lot of struggling and me trying to convince them not to move the bookshelf, the bookshelf was out of the way and it showed a door just a bit taller than me at the time so it was about 4 foot 10 inches , i was the shortest one out of all of us. After, after a while of us just staring at it one of my friends said what was on all of our minds, "lets open it".
We for some reason agreed, so because i was the shortest and could easily fit. I opened the door and it was so dark when i looked into the key hole of the old heavy oak door, and the smell coming from it made me almost vomit. I was scared and said that i can't open it because it was locked, then one of my friends handed me a skeleton key which went with the door. I put it in and turned it, and the door unlocked. I was terrified at this point so, i was trying to get out of the situation but, my friends handed me a face mask, a flashlight, and i took out my phone to record it so, they could see. I walked into the door and into a long hallway, as i walked the smell keep getting worse causing my eyes to water. After a walking what seemed like miles i found a pale humanoid thing curled up with it's back to me.
I thought it was dead but, then i say it breathing, at that point i wasn't scared, i was terrified. I started to walk backwards away from it and my foot stepped on something causing a loud crunch to ring out in the hallway, I looked down to see i had crushed a bird skull. I looked back at the thing and it was starting at me with it's foggy eyes. I also had bloody teeth and claws. I was beyond terrified, so i turn and ran as fast as i could, the thing behind me. After about to minutes i was back out the door my friends asking me what i saw, they didn't need to wait long to find out as the thing ran out tackling one of my friends and started eating him. Terrified we ran out locked the door and waited after about an hour we looked back into the basement, the door was closed and the bookshelf back to where it first was and the large glass sliding door in our basement was opened with bloody hand and foot prints leading out out to the fields around our house, and our friend was gone, not even his body was there just a puddle of blood. There wasn't a trail of blood leading out which meant it ate all of him down there. we couldn't stomach the idea of looking for it or my friend for the slight chance he could still be alive. So, we closed the door went back up stairs and locked the basement door.
I wish i could write more but, the thing was hunting us, and it thinks i let it out so, it is almost at my door so i just wanted to tell this story before it gets me.
